Welcome to THE BAB
In 2019, Sunny and Pyo started THE BAB with one simple goal:
to bring real Korean food to Amsterdam — food that’s authentic, fresh, and easy to enjoy without worrying about price or complicated menus.
Sunny, born and raised in Busan, Korea, cooks just like she did at home. Her recipes carry the flavors and soul of Korea, crafted with care and respect for tradition.

When Sunny and Pyo first moved to Amsterdam, they loved the city but felt something was missing — a truly authentic Korean restaurant. The few that existed were often far away or didn’t feel quite like home. So they opened their first spot in Amsterdam Oost: a small, welcoming place with a simple menu, honest prices, and food made with love.

Thanks to the support of our amazing guests, THE BAB has grown to De Pijp and Oud-West, making it easier for more people to enjoy real Korean food close to home.

Today, many new “Korean” restaurants have appeared, but not all are truly Korean. Some focus on trendy interiors or big menus but use shortcuts and non-real Korean ingredients.
At THE BAB, we believe authenticity matters.
We import genuine Korean ingredients whenever possible, even when it’s harder or more expensive, because true Korean flavors can’t be faked. Every sauce, every dish is based on Sunny’s homemade recipes.
Our team is proudly multinational — from Korea, Spain, Italy, Indonesia, the Netherlands, and beyond — but united by one mission: to cook Korean food the way it’s meant to taste.
At THE BAB, our promise is simple:
Genuine, fresh Korean food that everyone can enjoy — without the stress of high prices or complicated choices.

We’ll keep cooking with honesty and passion as long as you keep coming to share a meal with us.
Because in Korea, we ask, “ë°¥ 먹었어요?” — Have you eaten yet?
It’s more than a greeting. It’s a way of saying: we care about you.
Have you eten yet?
